Traditional foils (Urza's Saga → today)

Step 2 — Cleaning with Magic Clean Spray
For non-foil cards
Apply Magic Clean Spray to a microfiber cloth — the quantity should dampen the cloth without saturating it. Linear motions top-to-bottom, left-to-right, light even pressure. Full front pass, then back. Dry immediately with the clean side of the cloth.
For foil cards
Same procedure with 30–40% less product. Pressure must be even lighter — foils have a film that doesn't tolerate abrasion. Linear motions only, never circular. Immediate drying — do not leave product in contact with the foil surface.
For stubborn dirt
Multiple short cycles instead of one long cycle with more pressure. Change cloth section after each cycle. For persistent dirt on non-foil surfaces, a second cycle with slightly more pressure on the specific area is acceptable.
Step 3 — Polish 2in1 (non-foil and standard foil only)
When to apply
Only if micro-scratches are visible after cleaning, or if the surface appears unevenly matte. Do not apply as a systematic step on all cards.
Application
Micro quantity using the black sponge side of the dual-side pad. For non-foil: gentle circular motions, then buffing with the white fabric side. For foil: very light linear motions, half the quantity used for non-foil. UV verification after application to confirm no residue remains.
Reserved List cards — specific care
Dual lands, Power Nine, and rare ABUR cards
Reserved List cards (Volcanic Island, Black Lotus, Time Walk, etc.) are significant investments. The fundamental principle is minimal intervention: clean only if there is visible dirt reducing the grade, not as routine maintenance. Every treatment carries residual risk — on these cards, risk must be minimized absolutely.
Reserved List-specific protocol: preventive test on the card back with Magic Clean Spray, 5 seconds of contact, removal, UV inspection. If the test is perfect, proceed with the minimum possible quantity and extremely gentle motions.
Step 4 — Final inspection
