When polish does NOT make a difference

Step 1 — Pre-polish cleaning (mandatory)
Why cleaning comes first
Any dirt or grease particle remaining on the surface during Polish 2in1 application becomes a micro-abrasive. Instead of polishing, you are scratching the card with dirt particles encapsulated in the product. Pre-cleaning is not optional — it is the foundation of the entire process.
Cleaning with Magic Clean Spray
Apply Magic Clean Spray to a clean microfiber cloth. Linear motions top-to-bottom on the full front, then the back. Dry with the clean side of the cloth. Verify under UV light that no residue remains — fluorescence should be uniform across the entire surface before proceeding.
Step 2 — Polish 2in1
Quantity and application
The correct quantity of Polish 2in1 is minimal: a pinhead-sized amount per card half. Rest the black sponge side of the dual-side pad lightly on the jar to pick up the product — do not push the pad into the jar. Never apply with a finger: hand heat alters the formula. Gentle circular motions covering the entire surface.
Final buffing
After circular motions, flip the pad: use the white fabric side for circular buffing for ~1 minute without adding product. Wait 2 minutes, then remove residue with a dry microfiber cloth from center toward edges. If you notice white residue, apply a supplementary cycle with Magic Clean Spray to remove it. The dual-side pad is washable — rinse with warm water after use. As an alternative to Polish 2in1, the Polish Line creams give you more control: Arctic Polish for targeted holo/foil micro-scratch work, and Misty's Cream to even out the coating where the sheen looks uneven.
Front vs back
Always apply to both front and back. The back of Pokemon cards (typically blue) shows micro-scratches differently from the front — treating it is equally important for grading, which evaluates both faces.
Vintage holo cards
On WOTC cards with metallic holo (Base Set, Jungle, Fossil): mandatory preventive test on a corner of the back with a micro amount before proceeding. Reduced quantity, lighter motions throughout.
Step 3 — Bubblegum Spray (protective finish)
What Bubblegum Spray does
Bubblegum Spray creates a thin transparent protective layer on the card coating. Effects: improved gloss, smoother sleeve glide (less friction), slower accumulation of dust and fingerprints, extends the durability of the Polish 2in1 result.
How to apply
Only after the surface is completely dry after polishing (at least 30 minutes). Apply Bubblegum Spray to a clean microfiber cloth — never directly on the card. Light linear motions on front and back. Allow 10–15 minutes to dry before sleeving or toploading.
Bubblegum Spray before grading
If the card is going to grading soon, Bubblegum Spray is optional. If applied, wait at least 24 hours before submission to ensure the product is fully neutralized. UV verification post-application confirms no visible residue remains.
Expected results
Light micro-scratches
Significant reduction in visibility, especially under raking light. The scratches don't disappear but become much less evident through coating uniformization.
Diffuse haze
Near-complete resolution. A dull surface treated with Magic Clean Spray + Polish 2in1 recovers its original gloss.
Holo shine
The holographic effect on holo cards appears more vivid and defined after polishing — a more uniform coating amplifies light diffraction.

Does Polish 2in1 remove scratches?
It significantly reduces the visibility of light surface micro-scratches. Deep scratches are not eliminable with polish. The effect is greatest on light to medium scratches.
Does polish damage the coating?
Used correctly (micro quantities, clean surface, light motions) it does not damage modern coating. Risk increases with residual dirt, excessive quantities, or on vintage cards without a preventive test.
What does Bubblegum Spray do?

How many times can you polish a card?
